As a Texas girl, I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to find any good Mexican food when I moved to Charleston. I’m definitely spoiled when it comes to authentic dishes and amazing margaritas, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant that I now deem my go-to when I want the best margaritas in town! Taco Boy was a tequila dream come true. Keep reading for my favorite items on the menu below!
The Drinks:
My favorite margarita on the menu was definitely the pineapple-infused margarita! I love pineapple on everything, and this was definitely the best margarita on the menu. They make the pineapple-infused tequila in-house, and it’s the perfect combination of sweet and salty. I’m not usually a sangria fan, but this one was so light and fresh. I can definitely see myself opting for this instead of a marg on a particularly hot and muggy day this summer. Then, of course, there was the classic house margarita, which was everything I could have hoped for. Since I was raving about the sangria on it’s own, the bartender mixed some in with my house marg and it was to die for.
The Food:
Honestly, pretty much every item on the menu looked amazing to me. They have a mix of very basic Mexican go-to’s like chips and guac and tacos, as well as something you don’t normally see like rice bowls. The Carnitas Norteno had to be my favorite taco that I tried, but they have 14 options to choose from so I’ll for sure be going back for seconds to try the rest.
The Atmosphere:
They have two locations; one in downtown Charleston and one on Folly Beach, and this is the downtown location. I loved the outdoor patio area especially! It’s so cute and perfect for big groups to get together for happy hours or special occasions. The location is also a great place to get together for supper before going out.
To sum up, Taco Boy is my choice for the best margarita in Charleston!
