I’m really excited, y’all, because this is my first ice cream post I’ve done since I started Foodie Friday! Like restaurants, Charleston has no shortage of spots to get yummy frozen treats, so deciding where to start was tricky. There are a mix of well-known places and hole-in-the-walls and everything in between, but I decided to go with the place I had gotten the most personal recommendations from locals, and that was Ye Ole Fashioned Ice Cream and Sandwich Cafe.
This place totally exceeded my expectations! They have six locations in the Charleston area, but I decided to check out the one in Mount Pleasant, and it was so adorable! The inside reminded me of an old fashioned small-town diner. I absolutely fell in love with it’s charm! Also, I realized how out of the loop I was because I didn’t know that they also served a huge menu of diner food, sundaes, and milkshakes, all for extremely reasonable prices.
I only tried the ice cream (because like I said I didn’t know they had other food until I got there and I had already eaten supper!) but it was absolutely amazing. I had the cake and ice cream and strawberry flavors and it was the perfect combination for the summer heat. If you saw my Instagram stories, I tried to take photos with my cone in the 90 degree heat and it was melting all over the place, so I’ll definitely be going back soon and trying more flavors while safely in the AC!
Scroll to check out more photos and definitely add it to your Charleston list!
