Dress | Heels | Bag | Necklace
I’d like to take a moment and speak about something I’ve very passionate about. Sunday brunch.
Since I’m not a hiker, I mostly shop online, and kayaking is so expensive, I mainly plan my weekends around where I’m going to go to brunch. New restaurants are opening in Austin all the time, it’s a total foodie city, so there are always plenty of new options to get excited about. The best thing about spring is getting to choose places with fun outdoor patios! Austin has like 3-4 months max where it’s comfortable to sit outside, lol. Either you’re dripping with sweat or freezing, so this time of year I get to take advantage of the weather and find a great patio. Another thing patio brunches mean, though, is you’re going to be people watching, which means people are watching you too, and that means you NEED a great brunch outfit.
So, here is my guide to having the perfect Sunday brunch and brunch outfit!
#1 Make Sure Your Outfit Photographs Well.
You know you and the girls are gonna want to Instagram this moment. We’re all busy #bossbabes who don’t see our favorite people as often as we’d like, and when you see your friends you haven’t seen in a while you know you’re going to be snapping pics.
#2 Dress For the Weather
Like I said, weather can be tricky. Check the temp for the day so that you’re comfortable! It’s no fun feeling miserable because you didn’t know there was a cold front and you didn’t bring a jacket. I’ve always felt that someone who is properly dressed for the elements looks much better than the most stylish person who decided to wear a crop top when it’s 50 degrees. That’s just silliness!
#3 Check the Restaurant Website
You’ll want to figure out what you think you might be having. This is a really important step for those clumsy girls like me! If the restaurant’s specialties are blood orange mimosas and Nutella crepes, maybe don’t wear white. Nothing will ruin your day like a chocolate spill on your new favorite white dress. Also, you can pick what you want to eat before so you can spend more time chatting and catching up and you won’t have to make the server come back ten times because you weren’t ready to order (guilty!).
#4 Check in With the Girls
I don’t know many girls who don’t already do this, but for those of you who don’t, just sending a tiny text to your friends to see what’s up can be a good idea. Maybe they want to go shopping after and you do too, so you decide to wear flats instead of heels. Maybe a few of you are all coming from the same area and can carpool and save time and money on parking. Little things like that can be cleared up beforehand so you’re all on the same page and your Sunday brunch can run more smoothly.
#5 Embrace the Day
Most importantly, wear what makes you happy and confident so you can relax and have a great day! The dress in my photos is absolutely the most perfect spring Sunday brunch outfit for me. It’s got everything I love; florals, blush pink, cold shoulder cutouts, and ruffles. Does it really get any better than that? Not for me, anyway!
