A few weeks ago, Mike and I headed to the Dallas International Film Festival (DIFF) to see the premiere of Bomb City. As you may or may not know, Mike moved to LA last summer to pursue his acting career, but before he left he worked on three awesome projects; My All American, American Crime, and Bomb City. He was a core extra in My All American, but had significant speaking roles in American Crime (an ABC crime show) and Bomb City (a true story about an Amarillo hate crime).
We had the best time at DIFF! The first night, it was a little dressier, so Mike rented a tux and I wore this AH-mazing white number. Mike got to answers questions on the red carpet and we hung out with the rest of the cast and crew who worked on the film. Then for the second night, it was a little more casual. We got to see the movie (which was incredible, by the way) and then went out in Deep Ellum to celebrate! This was the night I decided to wear the dress in the photos above (which is $46 by the way!).
If you have movie premiere to attend (or some other similar event) here are my tips to help you choose the perfect outfit:
#1 Find Out What You’re Doing After
For this premiere, I knew we were going to be going out on the town after, so I kept that in mind when I picked my outfit. Deep Ellum is kind of the new “cool” area in Dallas to go out, so I wanted something that was good to wear to fun bars.
#2 Check Out the Theater
I googled the theater and found out that it’s in a more casual area surrounded by restaurants and shopping. The inside looked somewhat casual as well, so I kept that in mind.
#3 Look at Photos From Previous Years
I looked up albums from earlier years at DIFF and saw what other people were wearing to make sure I wouldn’t be too dressed up or down. Mike and I were more dressed up than most on the first night with my gown and his tux, but it’s always better to be over dressed than under dressed! It is a movie premiere, after all, and we wanted to celebrate.
#4 Consider the Movie Theme
This is actually something I wish I would have done! The movie was a sort of celebration of the punk revolution in many ways, so some of the cast members went for the punk theme with their outfits, and I think that would have been fun to do too!
#5 Always Check the Weather
This is advice I always give because it’s just good sense. It was a movie, so having long sleeves was great so I didn’t get chilly, but I knew it was going to be warm walking around so I knew I didn’t want to have to carry around a jacket.
