Dress | Heels | Clutch | Watch
It’s only May, and we have already been having some scorchers in Texas, y’all. Any other Southern girls out there feeling the pain? While I love warm weather style, sometimes certain outfits aren’t always great for beating the heat, but I believe I found the perfect staple dress for those hot summer days that every girl needs in her closet.
If I know I’m going to be outside for a summer get-together, I always take note of the color I’m wearing. Everyone sweats, it’s just a part of life, but being mindful of choosing colors that won’t show it (like my navy dress here) is really important. Also, prints can mask evidence of sweat, too (and spills, lol). White is one of my favorite colors for summer because it doesn’t show sweat much, either, and it’s just so cool and breezy. However, I know I’m a spiller, so if I’m going to be drinking wine or eating anything messy, I won’t pick a white outfit. Seems obvious enough, but going through exactly what your day is going to look like before picking your outfit will help you make better choices with your outfit.
Another reason I love this dress is that it has a great price point. At only $26, it’s perfect to have in your closet because it can be worn for so many different occasions. I am guilty of wanting to spend my cash on unique pieces instead of staples, it’s something I’ve always been bad about, but picking out a staple dress like this one (or simple jeans and casual tops like this outfit) is really the way to go. It’s the perfect “nothing to wear” dress because it’s flattering with its shift style, trendy with its cold shoulders, and the material can be dressed up or down. I added some heels and a clutch to show how it can be worn for the evening, but swapping out the heels for flat sandals and a clutch for a tote would make it perfect for brunch or a day event.
