As y’all might have noticed, my Foodie Friday content has been a little low on seafood spots considering I’m living in a coastal town. Unfortunately, I have a shellfish allergy that prevents me from enjoying shrimp, lobster, crawfish, crab, and oysters and it’s SUCH a bummer! In a town of crab cakes and shrimp n’ grits, this girl is left out of all the fun. However, there are lots of yummy seafood restaurants in our fair city that have tons of options on the menu that I can enjoy, and NICO is one of them!
Y’all, this place is to die for! It’s an upscale oyster bar serving French cuisine and the French touches are everywhere. From the blue, white, and red benches on the patio to the “Salut Mes Amis” greeting on the hostess stand, NICO is filled with intoxicating French charm. Not to mention, the food is amazing! Master Chef Nico Romo was so welcoming and created some of the most beautiful and delicious dishes for me during my visit, catering to my allergy while also helping me showcase some of their amazing shellfish options for y’all. Their seafood tower was absolutely breathtaking!!
Here’s what I recommend ordering:
To eat:
-Octopus: with whipped feta, corn, & fennel
-Duck Breast “À L’orange”: with tomato provencale & orange butter
-Croque Monsieur: with salmon, pickles, topped with a poached egg and caviar
-Seafood Tower: with oysters, clams, shrimp, escargot, and octopus
To drink:
-Bottle of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label ($12 on Happy Hour)
