Did you know that June 29 is National Food Truck day??
Naturally, since it fell on a Friday, it only made sense that my Charleston Foodie Friday highlight would be a Food Truck! And why not? Food trucks are basically the best invention ever, and with the large demand in Charleston for delicious food, more new and delicious trucks seem to be popping up constantly. Some, however, stand out more than others, and Holy City Waffles is definitely one of the best food trucks I’ve tried in a while. It’s a dessert waffle on a stick, what’s not to like?
From the photo of the menu you’ll see below, you get to choose your own dips and toppings to completely customize your waffle, which for a picky person like me is such a game changer. I like to respect chefs and their creations by limiting my substitutions when I order, but when your input is required and you get to make it your own, that’s my favorite thing. We went with a strawberry and granola waffle, a ‘smores waffle, and a banana sprinkles waffle. We also had to try the cookie dough dip!! I had heard of this invention before and was a little intimidated thinking it would be ridiculously rich, but WOW! It was just the right amount of sweetness and the consistency was just like cookie dough. I’m in love!
Scroll to see the photos and get some inspiration for your next visit! Be sure to keep up with their Instagram so you can see where they’ll be parked; they’re always moving around town!
Thanks for reading, and be sure to tune in here every Friday for more food reviews around Charleston!
