Last week, two of my best friends in the whole world came to visit me from Texas! Lauren (the bride from my most-read blog post ever about Maid of Honor duties), Cynthia, and I met in college at the University of Texas at Austin when we all joined the same spirit organization, Texas Spirits, in Fall 2010. Lauren and I were roomies in college for two years, then after graduation Cynthia and I lived together for three, right up until I moved home this summer before leaving for Charleston. It was a really sad departure when I left these two gals.
You spend a lot of time when you’re in your early twenties deciphering which people will be your true, lasting friendships, and it was always clear to see that these two would make the cut for me. Lauren moved to Houston a few years ago, but we always made the effort to visit each other once every couple of months, never missing big events in each others lives and always making time to chat on the phone when it had been too long. Lauren is the best at remembering to call me and keep up with things going on in my life. She knows how spastic I can be, and remembering things is really hard for me, so it means so much that she always makes the effort to call. Cynthia has always been the planner to make sure the three of us get together, along with some of our other friends that we don’t see that often. You can always count on Cyn to organize for us and make sure we follow through with plans to see each other, and won’t let anyone make excuses. She knows how important friendships are and is so great at keeping them in tact.
They both made me so happy when they committed to visiting me! It’s not cheap to fly to Charleston, especially during the high season, so it meant so much to me that they made the effort to come.
I am so lucky to have these two girls in my life! If you’re reading this, I love y’all!
