Over-the-knee boots are such a fun trend, but they aren’t always the easiest things to style. I’ve definitely experienced some trial and error moments with over-the-knee boots over the years, and I found that there are a few styling tips that keep you looking taller, leaner, and just more put together. Check them out below!
#1 Wear Dark Jeans
Dark jeans in general look more flattering than a lighter wash, and they definitely also help make your over-the-knee boots look their best. When paired with a pair of darker color boots, it gives the illusion of longer legs. I also like to do this with black tights and black heeled boots in the winter (like this).
#2 Choose a Shorter Top
One of my favorite tricks to make your legs seem longer is wearing a top that just grazes the top of your jeans. Something like a long, chunky sweater can be super cute, but if it goes down to your thighs, it really cuts off your legs, which your boots are already doing. I’ll usually wear a shorter, more fitted top under a jacket or long cardigan to maximize my leg length.
#3 Make sure they’re fitted
You usually get what you pay for when it comes to the fit of over-the-knee boots. The cheaper they are, the wider they’ll usually be because the manufacturers will try and save money by not having a zipper, and they won’t fit your legs properly. A good, flattering pair of otk boots will be nice and fitted, and will stay up without you having to constantly tug at them.
#4 Heels Are Your Friend
Everyone knows that heels make your legs look longer, so I always grab for otk boots with a nice high heel. With something that’s going to cut your legs in half, you really need all the help you can get, so the higher the better in my opinion!
Hopefully these tips will help you look your best this fall and winter! Who else is SO pumped about this cold weather?
