It’s a new year and I’m excited to share with y’all my first Foodie Friday of 2019! The Grocery Charleston is a cozy and charming spot on Canon Street that specializes in locally and regionally sourced ingredients, from fresh seafood to house-made charcuterie. Their craft cocktail list is also extensive (not to mention super creative and delicious) and they also have a few beers on tap and a great wine selection. Head chef and owner Kevin Johnson really has created a unique and inspiring menu, and everything I tried during my visit was delicious!
Below are my recommendations on what to order:
What to Eat:
-Smoked Fish Cake: Beet Salad, Horseradish, Dill, Everything Spice.
-Cider Glazed Pork Belly: Sauerkraut, Apple, Mustard.
-Cauliflower Salad: (new menu item)
What to Drink:
-The Dirty Green Tomato: Pickled Green Tomato Juice, Vodka or Gin.
-Diablo Verde: Reposodo Tequila, Green Chartreuse, Ancho Chile, Lime, Jalapeño.
-Porch Swing: Barrel Rested Gin, Rum , Southern Amaro , Peach, Lemon.
Apart from the food being reason enough to visit, the Grocery also has a great space. It’s so cozy and welcoming, and I loved the bar area the most.
