These sunny Spring Charleston days are giving me life! I visited the Holy City for the first time in July of last year, and y’all it was hot as HECK. Then, I moved here in late October and it was already getting chilly and the colors were changing for Fall. Everyone told me that Spring in Charleston was more beautiful than I could imagine, and even though it’s the first day of Spring today, I’m already seeing what they were talking about.
The window boxes are looking absolutely stunning, the sun is out but the temperature is staying under 80 degrees, and the tourists are starting to really fill the streets more than I have seen before. That may not sound like a good thing to most people, but I have never had a problem with tourists like some people do. Austin was crawling with them, especially when the music festivals were in town like ACL and SXSW, but I love the excitement and hustle and bustle! It’s a reminder to me that I’m not a visitor here, I’m living in this gorgeous city that everyone wants to come visit, and that’s pretty exciting. Plus, here in Charleston there are so many gorgeous alleyways and hidden places to take photos, so it’s hardly ever a problem for me in that department! It might be more difficult for me to get a table at a restaurant but what are you gonna do?
Another favorite thing of mine about Spring in Charleston is how acceptable it is to bring out your cutoff shorts so early in the year. These are a new favorite of mine, and they’re only $50! I paired them with this $25 striped tee for a casual look that I ended up wearing the rest of the day after this shoot for drinks on Shem Creek. I swear by these tees, I have them in so many colors and I also have the tanks! They’re so soft, don’t shrink, and fit so well.
Happy Spring, everyone!
