After choosing my dream wedding gown, the bridal accessories were the next step! The jewelry, shoes, veil, and garter all came pretty easily because I already had a pretty specific vision for them, but after doing some browsing on Pinterest and other bridal inspiration websites, I decided it would be fun to have a headpiece to complete my bridal look! I’m a little out of the box when it comes to my style, and I knew that I would want something different to set me apart from the classic bride, and I decided a crown headpiece would be perfect for me!
I found Maria Elena Headpieces from an Instagram search, and I stopped scrolling right in my tracks! They had exactly the style of headpieces I was looking for, and I could see so many going perfectly with my dress. I reached out to them and their amazing stylist helped me choose a selection to try on so I could make sure I found one that I liked and that fit my vision.
Choosing bridal accessories is fun, but it can also be a lot of pressure and somewhat confusing. In most cases, you’ll have chosen your dress already, but it’s not like you can cart it around to every shop to be sure it goes with everything you choose. If you’re going to use a headpiece, you also have to think about your jewelry. I chose the headpiece first, then after I went with small studs for my big day so it wouldn’t be too much going on.
I luckily also had the help of a stylist from Maria Elena, Barbara, but if you don’t, having various photos of the up-close details of your dress can be extremely helpful with choosing accessories. For my dress, I had jewels and pearls, so I knew I had a little more flexibility as far as the stones of my accessories.
I was pretty sure I wanted a crown, but they had so many different styles that it was hard to choose! Their headpieces are all hand made from the finest materials, so each one looks like a work of art all its own. Barbara chose nine pieces for me based off of the photos of my dress and veil that I sent her, and I was so excited when I saw them in person. She mailed them to an adorable local bridal shop, Betty Bridal, where I was able to try them on. They all went so well with my dress and fit the look I was going for, but I had to choose just one!
In the end, I chose this delicate crown from their Fall 2020 Collection. I knew the blush details and pearls would go perfectly with my dress, and the whimsical flow of the design was just the etherial vibe I was going for. We tried it on with a veil and BAM it was love at first sight. I think my face says it all!
I’m so happy with how my entire bridal look went, and I think my headpiece really made my look! I felt like a princess, which is how you should feel on your wedding day!
