Have you ever picked out an outfit and been like “could I BE any more Sex and the City?”! That’s how I felt when I paired my new gorgeous blue Henri Bendel bag with this fun bow-tie blouse. It really only takes one statement piece to up your outfit game, and I’ve always felt that the perfect tote will do it for you. I’ve talked about investing in bags before, it’s something I feel strongly about, but here are a few reminders in case you’ve forgotten. I want to point out, though, that investment means something different for everyone, and when I say invest, I just mean spend more than you normally would, whatever that is.
3 reasons why you should invest in a quality bag:
First, while being an outfit rememberer might be worse, no one really likes to be an outfit repeater (Lizzie McGuire style). That’s why we girls buy so many shirts, sweaters, and dresses, because you can’t be tagged on Facebook too many times wearing the same thing. It’s just a girl thing, right? However, there are 3 items in your wardrobe that you’re given a pass on and can wear as many times are you want, and that’s jeans, shoes, and bags! If you’ve got an amazingly adorable bag, you’re a weirdo if you only wear it a couple of times! That’s why quality is better than quantity.
Second, cheap bags are cheap. If you buy a $10 bag made of flimsy, faulty material, it’s not going to last. Your dark jeans will transfer on it, the straps will fray and break, and the lining will tear. It’ll quickly become junky and you’ll find yourself back in the store looking for another one. After a year or two when you’re cleaning out your closet, you’ll have a bunch of $10-40 bags that you want to give away when if you would have just bought one quality bag, you would probably still be wearing it.
The third reason is, they’re such a fun way to complete your look. I started investing in quality bags after watching some of my blogging heroes. They always seemed to have that perfect, gorgeous tote that made an otherwise normal or just cute outfit become fabulous. I haven’t upgraded to that Prada or Gucci quite yet (that’s a pipe dream for me right now) but there are plenty of brands that have equally as beautiful and quality bags for prices that are easier on the wallet. I chose this particular blue Henri Bendel bag because it’s my favorite color, so I know I won’t ever get tired of it, and the size was just right. I don’t have anything else in this size and it perfectly completed my purse collection.
To be very transparent, this bag was gifted to me, so I realize I did not invest in this bag personally. However, I have always invested in nice bags, and it really is something I believe in. Also, Henri Bendel gifted this bag for me to do with what I wanted. I was not required to post this blog about it, it’s just what I truly believe in! And if I had to buy this bag, I would have (or at least asked for it for Christmas) because I’m THAT obsessed.
So, if your family is still asking you what you want for the holidays, instead of asking for like 5 little things that won’t last, maybe ask for one fabulous thing that will make you feel amazing!
