Austin is such a fun place to visit. It’s becoming a top place for bachelor/bachelorette parties, romantic weekend getaways, and fun family trips, and as a local, I was so thrilled to score an invite by Hotel Ella for a girls staycation with my mom! Austin has a lot of choices for boutique hotels, but this one really captured my heart. My sister actually had her wedding reception here back when it was still the Mansion at Judges Hill, so I was excited to come back and see all the amazing changes made since it became the fabulous Hotel Ella it is today.
First of all, our room was amazing! The bed was heaven and I loved all the fun little decorative touches, like the fabulous mustard settee. We had a little patio area outside the room that was right by the pool, perfect for having a little happy hour drink. Hotel Ella has 47 guestrooms suites, which is a lot for a boutique hotel, making it a great spot for weddings or other large get-togethers.
Speaking of the pool, how fabulous is it?? If you’re vacationing in Austin during the summer, a pool is an absolute MUST! It’s also a known thing that the Hotel Ella pool is a top spot for photo ops. How can it not be? It has the cutest chairs and dreamy green vines. I had to wake up pretty early to snap these photos of the pool because people were always out there enjoying it.
The drawing room and bar were totally fabulous as well. My mom and I had our morning coffee on that blue velvet couch and she couldn’t help but take a bunch of snaps of the room on her phone because she wanted to copy the decor for her house! I also think the dark bar is the perfect spot for a romantic date night. For a boutique hotel, both the restaurant and the drawing room are really big and welcoming.
Now to the good part, the food! Hotel Ella has their own restaurant called Goodall’s Kitchen and I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed our dinner there. They have so many dishes on the menu that I was dying to try; I’m definitely going to have to come back again soon! My mom started with Lavender Bee’s Knees cocktail, which is fords gin, lavender honey, and lemon, and I had the Goodall’s Old Fashioned. For an appetizer, we had the chickpea hummus (literally the best hummus I’ve ever had, we ordered it again for lunch the next day) and for the main course, I had the King Salmon with corn and fava bean succotash, and my mom had the shrimp linguine. I must say, though, dessert was our favorite part of the meal. We were so stuffed from our dinner, we got one to share thinking we’d only have a few bites, but we completely devoured our blueberry shortcake.
If you’re visiting Austin soon, or you’re a local like me looking for a staycation at the best boutique hotel, I totally recommend checking out Hotel Ella!
