Gown | Clutch | Necklace | Heels
Let’s face it, every brunette girl around my age was completely obsessed with Beauty and the Beast growing up. Belle was the perfect Disney Princess to look up to in so many ways! She was smart, fearless, compassionate, beautiful, strong-willed, and was prepared to fight for what she truly wanted (and fight off jerks like Gaston!). I think she was (and is) a great role model for young girls to look up to. She made it cool to be smart and different and displayed true, genuine character by falling for a beast. I absolutely loved the new Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson!! I’ve seen it twice already and it gave me all the feels. Has anyone else been listening to the soundtrack nonstop?
When shopping for the perfect dress for my take on Belle’s iconic yellow gown, I wasn’t sure where to turn. I wanted something that definitely screamed Belle (which this one ended up doing because at the park where we did this shoot a bunch of little girls kept coming up to me thinking I was her) but I also wanted to keep it chic and modern. One thing that was a non-negotiable was that the dress had to have beautiful movement! It needed to swirl and swish, which this one totally did. It stood out to me right away when I finally saw it. I also thought the ruffles on the shoulders and the elegant silk fabric really made it the perfect choice. Belle would approve, I’m sure of it.
Since I don’t have any Beauty and the Beast-type balls to go to any time soon, I would say this dress is perfect for gala season, a formal wedding, Prom (or Law Prom), or a black-tie benefit. You’ll stand out in a sea of black dresses if you opt for a gorgeous color like this yellow. I’ve always been the kind of girl who wanted to make statements with her outfits rather than blending in with the crowd. I feel like it can sometimes mean more “outfit fails” in other people’s eyes, but I don’t really care!
