Every morning on my way to work, I drive past this street filled with the most lovely homes I’ve ever seen. It’s fun to watch the flurry of morning activity: business men and women with briefcases getting into sports cars, moms in robes kissing their husbands goodbye, kids piling in SUVs with backpacks, and active Austinites jogging and walking their dogs. I like to make up little stories for their lives as I sit in traffic, it’s so interesting to me to think about what goes on inside the walls of these great houses. Sometimes, it’s nice to take a breath and do a little daydreaming instead of wanting to kill every driver on the road during your morning commute.
I thought the vibe of this outfit matched this street. With it’s classic feel, I felt like I could have strolled out of a beautiful, white, plantation-style home with green shutters (picture Tara, via Gone With the Wind) on my way to do something fantastic on a lovely Sunday afternoon. A winter white coat like this can be dressed up or down, but I, of course, paired it with jeans for a more casual look. I thought the pseudo turtle neck also added a sophisticated touch.
It was fun to get out and actually walk down the street a little, even if people were peeking out their windows at me like I was nuts. Maybe one day I will be less awkward taking these pictures in front of strangers, but today is not that day.
